At the request of our partner organisations, we recruit and place experienced professionals and young volunteers to work in projects of our partners on the basis of a fixed-term contract. Through their active commitment the professionals and young volunteers show their solidarity with the people in the respective country.
Principles
Brot für die Welt’s (Bread for the World’s) secondment of professionals focuses on supporting partner organisations across all national borders, cultural and confessional boundaries. Through a mutually respectful knowledge transfer and exchange of experience, the professionals make an important contribution towards a sustainable development which benefits the local population.
Upon request, Brot für die Welt recruits suitable professionals who are interested in sharing their expertise with the respective overseas partner organisation. They will be integrated both professionally and structurally in the local partner organisation’s team.
Requirements
The following conditions must be fulfilled:
- You are at least 25 years old.
- You are a citizen of an EU Member State.
- You have several years of professional experience in your specialised field.
- You either have a university degree or hold a diploma from a university of applied sciences or you have a master certificate of a skilled trade.
- You have competent language skills in the respective working language.
- You are interested in other people and cultures.
- You can identify with the ecumenical mission of Brot für die Welt.
- You are willing to actively engage yourself in the partner country’s church life.
- You are flexible, adaptable and you have a talent for improvisation.
- Your partner or your family is willing to accompany you during the overseas contract period.
Programme Services
Brot für die Welt is offering you:
- To find a suitable professional occupation with one of our partner organisations;
- an employment contract in accordance with the German Development Worker Act for a period of either 36 or 24 months;
- an intensive and contractually regulated preparatory phase regarding your life and work in the partner country (i.e. vocationally oriented further training, seminars on development policy subjects, individual language courses, if necessary);
- integration of your family into the complete preparatory process;
- social security coverage and an adequate sum of maintenance allowance;
- payment of travel expenses;
- financial start-up grant after your return to your home country;
- and much more.
