Our Network
In order to achieve more, Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World) has membership in national and international networks. We work closely with other aid organisations, above all with the ACT Alliance and with Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (Diakonie Emergency Aid) at the international level.
ACT Alliance
The international church network ACT Alliance is one of the largest associations for humanitarian work and development aid. ACT stands for "Action by Churches Together". With 150 members worldwide, the Alliance brings together the joint efforts of Protestant and Orthodox churches in more than 125 countries. Its aim is to coordinate the churches' work worldwide and to make aid even more effective through common quality standards.
The network is committed to disaster relief, development issues and lobbying and offers long-term help to people affected by emergency, poverty or injustice. Brot für die Welt and its sister organisation Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe belong to the ACT Alliance.
ACT Alliance EU
In order to combine their concerns and better represent them in the EU bodies, Protestant aid organisations from 13 European countries have joined forces in the ACT Alliance EU. This network has continued the work of Aprodev (the umbrella organisation of Protestant development organisations) since 2015 , advising its members and providing a forum for knowledge exchange.
Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe
Along with Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, Brot für die Welt belongs to the Protestant Agency for Diakonie and Development. Where Brot für die Welt helps with long-term development projects, Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe provides emergency humanitarian aid in acute crises. It assists victims of natural disasters, war and displacement who cannot cope with these plights on their own.
